First season with a lower league club - Coventry: Promoted to Championship!

First season with a lower league club - Coventry: Promoted to Championship!
Ok so around a week ago I decided that I wanted to play with a lower league team. I didn't wanted to go that low but I definitely wanted that rush of fighting for promotion and bring a team all the way to champions league glory over the course of many seasons. I've managed multiple teams in FM20 but they've all been at least first division teams. Chelsea 12 seasons. Man Utd 9 Seasons, A. Villa 14 seasons and Dormund 6 seasons.
I decided Skybet League One would be a nice challenge for my first lower club and then spent quite a bit. I didn't want to make the challenge too hard on my by picking Bolton (they start with -12 points) but I also didn't want a "wealthy" team like Sunderland where I would just have the ability to buy monster player (for League One level ofc) and absolutely demolish everyone. After a while I decided to settle with Coventry. First because they start with no budget which meant I would have to work with what the team got and the very low payroll available meant that I couldn't get too many loans and not of high quality. The second reason is because on my A.Villa save Callum O'Hare ended up becoming one of my best players and ended up retiring as my team captain at 37 and he's on loan at Coventry at this first season.

The Formation

I knew I wanted to try something different. I didn't want to go with the classic 4-2-3-1 Gegenpressen. I started looking at my options in the team and realized I had a decent amount of DCs, 2 fantastic wing backs, a decent midfield and one pretty decent striker with a right winger that could also play up front and had ideal stats to be a second support man for my striker. With my sick wing backs, and the lack of a decent left winger (at least if I wanted to make it to playoffs which was my initial goal) I decided I wouldn't play wingers. And after like 4 or 5 league matches I ended up sticking with what would become the definitive formation. A nice 5-2-1-2 which allowed me to have a strong middle with very creative players (cause the 3 DCs fixed a lot of the mistakes and lack of defense they had) and also exploit the wings. Here's my full tactics (I would change some things here and there for some matches but this was what I used the most) and I'll also give some details about each player:

https://preview.redd.it/uc7kd5y8iyd61.png?width=1366&format=png&auto=webp&s=a46feec2edc1fbc93a07ae600b1318721a676d22
GK - Marko Marosi: Slovakian GK with a good rating for the first team. The team has another option in Ben Wilson but there's definitely no competition here, Marosi is far superior. At first I wanted to bring a better GK on loan as I didn't fully trust Marosi but he ended up proving me wrong. He ended up being the keeper with most shutouts (19) and only conceded 31 goals. He played all but 2 matches and he's honestly a monster shot stopper with amazing reflexes.
WBR - Fankaty Dabo: The Sierra Leone beast! Well kinda. For sure one of our best players with his very high pacing and acceleration paired with very good passing and decent crossing... But holy shit does he have abysmal fitness. Seriously he ended up missing 15 League One matches cause he would end up demolished after every match and sometimes wouldn't get back in time. He was a monster every match but would need to get subbed around the 70th minute consistenly. He ended up being the captain in most matches and gave us a solid 14 assists in 43 matches across all competitions.
DCR - Josh Pask: Supposedly our young player with the brightest future. He started the season injured and had a long way to go with being 4 months out. Started with Rose in this position but as the season went on, he was making a lot of mistakes and after a month of so of Pask being back to the team he told me he wanted more play time and ended up making it a lot better than Rose and even scoring some key goals! He's very physically strong and ended up becoming a started very fast after he recovered.
DC - Dominic Hyam: Ended up being our best defender and definitely rock solid. I think he's the reason my defense worked so well, having amazing positioning, tackling and marking meant he rarely made mistakes and would often fix some mistakes the other defenders made. He's a slower defender but I always trusted him and it payed off. Rarely goes attacking but his defense is so good you can't ask more honestly.
DCL - Kyle McFadzean: One of our experienced players. I had my doubts, he's already 34 yo and I was fearing he would be too slow. I gave him a started spot cause he's basically Hyam but older, pretty similar stats but he's insanely determined and also has a high leadership so I thought he'd be the one to keep our defense in control. He's also physically strong but it's one of those players that only knows how to do one thing. He wasn't spectacular but never dissapointed honestly.
WBL - Sam McCallum: One of our loaned players. He was the other fantastic wing back I realized the team has. He's on loan from Norwich and boy am I happy he have him. He's very fast and a monster at tackling. He's also physically gifted and would run up and down the entire match. Surprisingly ended up being out 3rd goalscorer and most of those goals would be headers cause he would usually enter the box unmarked and just net a most good crossings. He ended up being top 5 in the average ratings on the league and I'd say he's like our 3rd-4th best player. 7 assists.
MCR - Zain Westbrooke: Is slowly becoming our star. This is the position I had a lot of doubts with. Most other positions I knew the players that would start but this one changed a lot. I started with Liam Kelly, team captain but he's an older defensive midfielder and with already 3 defenders in the back he didn't seem necessary. Then I tried Jordan Shipley. He's defintely good and I'm happy we have him on the team but never ended up being as good as I needed. Then came Westbrooke, he was decent at first but as the season went on started to become better and better. He's definitely the one doing the dirty work in the middle often coming down to support in defense and he was usually the one starting the attack. Insane passing and the definition of consitency. He ended up 4th in the average ratings and also managed to give 7 assists across all competition. He's not as notorious as our other midfielder but he definitely was a key part of out title run. If you want to make a comparison to better understand his role, he's pretty much Makelele for Los Galacticos, he might not be as appreciated as his partners but he's fundamental for the whole team to function.
MLC - Liam Walsh: Without a doubt the star of the team... Sadly, he's only a loan. A classic box to box but he's definitely more offensively oriented. He's the creative machine on my team. It's insane how good he is with amazing dribbles and unreal passes, he would eat up entire defenses by himself leaving our strikers wide open to score. I can't tell you how many times he made long range passes that I was just like "How the fuck could he see that and execute it with such precision". He was decent at defense as well. He ended up being the 1st player on the average ratings in League One and gave an insane 22 assists to also be ranked 1st on that regard. He was definitely the most important piece of our title run cause the kid simply drops assists left and right. He's also a fucking machine and would never stop running. Sadly I don't think I can bring him back cause he's too expensive and with Bristol City getting promoted to the Premier League there's no way he can get him on loan again, they're gonna need his insane passes if they plan to fight and not get relegated next season.
AMC - Callum O'Hare: My boy. As I said, in my Villa save he ended up being a club legend so I had high hopes with him. He never was amazing tbh but was always fairly consistent. I wanted him to be the star of my team but never trully managed to do so. He definitely got better in the second half of the season and started to give a lot of assists and managed to end with 15 in the league and finally started to meet my expectations around february. I sadly don't think we can get him back on loan next season.
STCR - Jordy Hiwula: Monster goalscorer. This dude for sure was the surprise of the season and a very pleasant one. I had him here mosly as supposed for who was supposed to be my main striker. Jordy is a natural right winger with insane pace and acceleration and very good passing so I thought he would be feeding a lot of passes to my striker. He doesn't even have high finishing at all but holy fuck he put the team on his back this season. 36 goals across 49 matches in all competitions, with 28 being in the league which allowed him to finish as the top goalscorer and 3rd in the average ratings. He's a bit irregular cause he can destroy a team in a matter of minutes but some matches he would simply not show up at all. I think a big part of his success was Walsh feeding him with insane long passes and him beating defenders with his absurd pace. He would also miss a lot of 1 on 1 vs the GKs but with the amount of times he got to the box without any pressure he definitely scored often.
STCL - Matt Godden: Decent striker but definitely deserved more time. I thought he would be our top goalscorer and he definitely didn't do bad, getting 18 goals in 31 matches across all competitions. At the beginning of the season I got Alejandro Marqués from Zebre and had high hopes on him and gave him a lot more time than Godden. While Maqués wasn't bad, he definitely missed a lot of shots, like he would get stopped by the defense and the keeper very often. I realized Godden was the more solid option in the last like 2-3 months of the season and he scored a decent amount of goals.

Trophies

We participated in 4 competitions:
  • Skybet League One
  • FA Cup
  • Carabao Cup
  • Leasing.com Trophy (EFL)
I'll start with the bad news first. We got pretty unlucky in both the FA and the Carabao cup, we barely managed to meet the expectations for these competitions cause we got paired against unbeatable opponents. We got knocked on the second round of the Carabao Cup after Chelsea pushed our shit in on a 5 - 0 match, we really had no hopes and went as defensive as we could but yeah, it was a guaranteed loss. Then on the third round of the FA cup we get no other than Man City, I couldn't believe our luck. We actually did amazing on the match, it ended 2-1 in favor of City but we actually pressured the entire game and it ended up being a hearthbreaker as we hit the post 2 times in the 91st and 94th minute, we were actually very close to at least forcing a replay which would have been huge for our ego. Still I'm proud of my team for still playing our game again Man City.
We obviously won the league with an amazing 34-4-6 record (I never save scum no matter what). Here's the full league table in case someone is interested:

Last team is Southend with 30 points and a 6-12-26 record
The odds at the beginning of the season had us finishing 5th which meant we would have to work extra time to even get to play offs. But we started winning a lot, scoring a lot of goals and we never dropped more than 3rd place in the entire season. By February we had a a consistent 8-11 points difference between us and the 2nd-3rd and 4th place (which you can see ended very much with the same points) and while we ended with almost a 20 point diferential we only got our first title fight with 5 matches left, in what was the most aggravating match of my FM career. It was against Burton who finished 20th and it started as expected. We ended with a great 3-0 in the first half. They scored a goal at 63 and I was still calm. Then nothing happened for the rest of the match, I was getting ready to lift the trophy with my boys. The ref gives 4 minutes of injury time, whatever. Their fricking right back with abysmal finishing and long shots scores an absolute screamer in 92, I started to get scared. The match keeps going, 94 minutes have passed and it's literally like the ref is waiting for them to score again to end it and welp they did... On the 96 MINUTE FOR FUCK SAKE. I was so mad that I stopped playing for a couple hours, couldn't believe the bullshit. I knew we would still win the title but that tie was so infuriating, just cause how it happened. The fight for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th places actually got very intense at the end as literally all 3 teams crashed terribly in the last 4 matches and didn't even manage to get a win, like none of them lol. The last match Peterborough was at 86 going into the last match, same as MK Dons also with 86 and then Oxford with 85, so yeah, all 3 had the worst end season possible. As of writing this MK Dons and Oxford will play the final and I'm rooting for the Dons, they deserve it, they were 2nd place for most of the season and just had terrible luck in the last month of the league. It also didn't help a lot that they got 17 ties! But they even have less losses than us lol.
In the Leasing.com Trophy we actually managed to get our second title of the season but it was honestly always easy af. We got Bristol Rovers in the Southern Section Semis (Regional Final) which we smashed 3-0 and then got Sunderland in the Finals, which was our only close match but even then we managed to get a 1-0 win.

Going Forward

Ok so we are a Championship team now, that feels amazing! But we still don't have any budget to buy players and like a 1M debt so we'll have to keep living off loans from young starts from top teams that need to give them more playtime. My aim for next season is to not get relegated, I'm trying to be realitic and I know the Championship can be vicious. I honestly don't care in what position we finish but I need us to stay in the Championship. I think a realistic plan is for us to stay in the Championship for like 4-5 more years which would help the team with its debt so we can actually start getting a budget and purchease players of our own.
  • Loan extensions: I actually managed to extend McCallums loan for another season and I couldn't be happier, that's some weight off my shoulders. As I said I think getting Walsh back for another year is impossible, specially cause Bristol is now a Premier League team and Liam is literally better than every other player in his position that they currently own. I also tried to get O'Hare for an extra year but Villa said that they actually wanted to keep him as an squad player and he definitely will gain more importance as the season goes on, both wil. I'm proud of my boys regardless and wish them sucessful careers. I won't try to get Marqués back he simply wasn't good enough.
  • Purcheasing players?: I actually got an increase on my payroll and with Walsh and O'Hare leaving I managed to get enough money to get a great improvement of a GK in James Talbot which used to play for Bohemians (Irish league) and for how cheap he was, he's already better than Marosi and a good for Championship level. Sadly he'll be the only purchease of the season.
  • Loans I'm looking for: I currently don't have like an specific player that I want on loan and I'll spend the next few days scouting as much as I can to build a solid team. I do know the positions I want to get players tho. I need a right winger that can help Dabo. I need an starter DC. I need a new Walsh lol, just an star midfielder that takes charge of creativity. I need an starter AM or AP cause I already have a decent academy kid but he isn't ready to be a starter. And finally I need an Striker that can really put pressure on Godden and maybe even do better. I definitely need all these guys if we are to have a chance and not get relegated. I also think a defensive midfielder for the more diicult matches against the top dogs in the championship but we'll see about this one as the transfer window goes on.
And that's it for me guys, I know this was a long post but I was so hyped about my team and I definitely feel like this lower league experience is amazing, I'm glad I finally decided to try it. I'm also open to suggestion for loans you might have that might work on this system I have cause I'm kinda scarred about getting rekt on the Championship lol. Thanks for reading :)

The Premier League is back this weekend, which means a resurgence in Match Betting. Here is my 3 Part Mega Guide to making £500 for several hours work, and then making £500- £1000 on a monthly basis.

So a lot of you will know that I regularly post guides and tips about match betting, However since the same questions always come up in the comments, I decided to make one big, very thorough Mega Guide in order to eliminate as many doubts as possible for you guys. Like I said before, This guide is a handy way to sort out a month's rent for 5 or 6 hours work, so I really hope it can be of use to someone. Anyway, Here it is:
PART 1: MATCH BETTING EXPLAINED; HOW TO MAKE £500 IN 5/6 HOURS
Having done my research and having been able to turn a really nice profit in such a short time, I wanted to make a short guide to eliminate people's doubts and simplify things a little. Since it really doesn't take a lot of time to hit that £500 profit mark, it's a shame not to try it out. Anyway, Here it goes:
I was sceptical as hell about Match betting because a friend showed me the Facebook groups and it just looked like a giant gambling pyramid scheme. It turns out there is a decent chunk of change to be made from it, you just need to follow the guides and never ever actually gamble with your money.
Never ever Gamble? Yes That's right, you are going to be using Gambling sites to complete the various offers, but the whole idea behind match betting is that every time you "make a bet", you match that same bet on the exchange. So for example, if I bet £10 for Real Madrid to Win on the Bookie Site at odds of 2.5, I then also make a Matched bet on the Exchange (This is a separate site such as Smarkets or Betfair) where I bet for Real Madrid not to win at odds of 2.5 (or as close as I can get to those odds). In this way I am covered in all outcomes, and it allows me to fulfill the requirements of the bookies offer (For example Bet £10 and get £30 in Free bets)
What's the difference between the Bookie Site and the Exchange? On the Exchange Site you are basically being the Bookie and just like a Bookie, you have liability. If I bet £10 and my bet wins at odds of 2.5 then I win £25, so the bookies liability for this bet is £15, the extra money that they would have to give me if I win. There are calculators on the Match betting sites which you can use to calculate what Liability you need to enter on the exchange each time you make your matched bet. There is also software to help you find what games have the closest odds on both the bookies and the exchange, which is very important.
What do I do when I get my free bets? It's the same process again, You find a game that has very close odds on both the bookies and the exchange ( You can do this by eye or by using odds matching software. A good site with this software is called OddsMonkey). Only this time when you use the calculator to work out your liability, you will set it to "Free bets SNR" so it knows you are not using real money. It will tell you how much Liability to use in the exchange and off you go.
How does this make me money? The fact that you have a free bet to use is what makes you money, For example a £30 free bet at odds of 5.5 in the bookies will win you £135 (30x 4.5, because the original free bet stake of £30 is not returned to you). Now let's say that the closest odds I can find in the Exchange for the same game are 6.0, I will need a liability of £112.50 to match my free bet in the bookies ( I use the calculator on oddsmonkey to work this out)
£135- 112.50 = £22.50 in Profit.
Alternatively if my bet on the exchange wins, I will lose the free bet of £30 (but it's not actually a loss to me because It's not real money) and I will win £22.50 on the exchange. Either way, I make a Profit of £22.50
What about providing card details? You can use a separate, virtual bank account for all your match betting, In this way your main banking information is not shared with any of the sites you sign up to. A good one to use is Monzo, the app is easy to use and it only takes 5 minutes to open an account. It's free to open an account and last I checked they actually have a referral scheme where you get £5 if you sign up through a referral link.
Non Referral here: https://monzo.com/
Where can I learn to do it? There are some sites that you have to pay a monthly subscription to but I found one called Team Profit that is free and has a full guide of all the different offers you can complete.
I worked my way down through the list of offers, nice and handy, and having completed 20 offers at 15 minutes per offer, I came out at £470 for 5 hours total of work.
If you are new to this site and are opening a free account I would really appreciate if you use my Referral (£10)
Here is the non referral link to the page with all the offers: https://www.teamprofit.com/welcome-offers-list
TLDR: You do not need to "gamble" to match bet, in fact by definition, the bet you make is "matched" on the exchange, so it is not a gamble in any sense.

PART 2: MAKING £500-£1000 EVERY MONTH.
You may sometimes see people commenting saying they have made a lot more money since finishing the welcome offers, £1000-£1500 a month and such, but never saying exactly how...
Personally I have made a lot more profit every month since I finished the welcome offers, Usually around the £1000 per month mark.
People say that Match betting drys up once you finish the welcome offers but this is simply not true, it's a matter of being more organised and checking your email for new offers, while also checking the Reload Offers section on Team Profit every morning (Takes literally 5 minutes)
Below is an Example from last month where I made £300 in one week. Bare in mind that the amount you make weekly will vary with the amount of sport that is on, but as long as there's sport, you will always be able to earn. This example is simply to show you the potential Match Betting has long after you've completed the Welcome offers:
Here's exactly how I did it:
Coral: Money back as a free bet up to £50 if your team is ahead in the first half but doesn't win the match in the end: Matched 5 Premier League games, 3 were successful. I received three £50 free bets which I matched and turned into £130 profit risk free. £130 in 30 minutes
William Hill: Money Back as Cash if your horse comes 2nd- 2 of the 6 horses I matched came 2nd, I was also able to make a profit by just matching the bets because my odds were higher on the bookies side by using the Happy Hour odds (between 12pm-1pm, 3 horses with enhanced odds) and also the 3 daily bet boosts on Horse raising( to boost my odds on another 3 horses). £20 in 5 minutes
Paddy Power: Money Back up to £10 if Horse comes 2nd 3rd or 4th, Matched the horse with the lowest odds and sure enough it came 3rd, got my £10 free bet. £8 in 3 minutes
Skybet: Money Back as cash up to £10 if Horse comes 2nd 3rd or 4th, Matched the horse with the lowest odds and sure enough it came 3rd, got my £10. £9.50 in 3 minutes
Skybet: Wednesday Super odds: Matched the three super odds on the exchange and due to the difference in odds (If the odds on the bookies are greater than those for same bet on the exchange you are automatically profiting). £10 in 3 minutes
Boylesports: £10 Free bet if your bet loses(Premier League Match): £8 in 3 minutes
Paddy Power 2up: An offer where you get paid out early if your time goes up by 2 goals, the profit varies depending on what the odds on the exchange are when you back the team you orignally lay against, but this offer can make you a lot of profit (You will need to download the team profit calculator app and use the early payout calculator). Last week it Made me £35. £35 in 5 minutes
Novibet: Deposit £100 and get a £50 free bet. Very easy because you just have to deposit the money, get your free bet, withdraw your £100 straight away, then match the free bet on the exchange. £40 in 5 minutes
Coral: Bet 3x £5 in play and get a £5 free bet-Availble everyday. Just match these at half time so the odds are stable, Make sure you also place mug bets every couple of days if you do this one a lot, I would reccomend doing it 5 times a week tops. £20 in 30 minutes
Paddy Powe Skybet Bet clubs: Bet 5x £10 bets in a week to get a £10 free bet with Paddy Power. Bet £25 in a week to get a £5 free bet with Skybet. £10 in 30 minutes

Above you can see the reality of making profit long after you've finished the welcome offers, but it comes down to organisation.
So in Summary, these are my 6 Rules for making a monthly Profit:
(1) Check your email daily for offers, many times bookies will send you personalised offers just for you, and these can be very VERY generous.
(2) Check the Reload Offers section on Team profit every morning to see what offers are available that day.
(3) Offers change all the time- Don't let this put you off. There are always new offers to replace the previous ones. There are also Weekly/Daily offers ( Coral £50 free bet, Paddy power refund if 2nd 3rd 4th, William hill money back if second, Paddy Power 2up, Bet clubs etc) which are constantly available when sport is on.
(4) Make Mug bets ( Explained more in PART 3)
(5) It all adds up. Don't think "It's only a £5 free bet, not worth matching". I get around 15 £5 free bets every week, If I ignored them all I would be down £200 at the end of the month.
(6) Don't spend all day at it. Once you've checked your email and reload offers, you know what offers you need to do that day. Set alarms so you can make your matches before each event starts, but don't spend ages sitting at your computer waiting for "the perfect match", for your own mental health, set a time limit of 1 hour per day at most.

PART 3: FAQ
(1) How much money do you need to put in to start?
When you go onto the offers page on Team Profit after signing up, there is an option to start with £25, £50 or £100. You can select one of those three options And it will show you a different number of offers according to your selection. I started with £100 because I wanted to get things moving a little quicker. I did this so that I would have enough money for liability to do a bigger earning offer at the start. One year later, and having see the potential for profit, I keep around £500 floating between my accounts. This is useful for large sporting events where I may want to do around 10- 15 offers in a short time.
(2) Is it in anyway going to impact my credit score?
Using gambling sites doesn't effect your credit score unless you borrow money to fund it. I do all my match betting through a virtual bank (Monzo) in order to keep that stuff out of my main bank on the off chance that it raises any eyebrows. You'll be using Monzo like a cash card, where you can only spend the money you put into the card. This is why it won't affect your credit score, because you wouldn't be taking out an overdraft or using credit for example.
(3) What is Mug Betting?
Mug Betting is where you make bets that have no relation to any offer or promotion in order to appear like a regular punter. If you are doing a lot of offers on one site, it's a good idea to make mug bets in order to avoid being "gubbed" (Gubbed is a term for when bookies realise you are only taking advantadge of promotions and close your account permanantly). Of course you will also Match these "Mug bets" on the exchange. Make 1-2 Mug bets on Each site every week(On the sites you are using a lot for offers and promotions) in order to ensure your accounts last longer than 1-2 years. I have been matching for well over a year and have never been gubbed. Take the extra couple of minutes to Mug bet, it's worth it.
More on Mug betting here

Ok so that's everything I can think of to share with you guys, The link to sign up to your free Team Profit account is at the bottom of Part 1 of this guide.
TLDR: You do not need to "gamble" to match bet, in fact by definition, the bet you make is "matched" on the exchange, so it is not a gamble in any sense.
I really hope this guide will help someone out because It really is a solid way to sort out a months rent for quite a modest amount of work.
Thanks for Reading.

Match betting doesn't finish with the Welcome offers. Here is exactly how I make £1000 a month.

So it's 5 things:
(1) Check your email daily (takes litertally 2 minutes)
(2) Check the Reload Offers on the site you use, I use Team profit (because it's free and just as good as any paid membership site) Here is a link to their reload offers which they update every morning: https://www.teamprofit.com/reload-offers-dashboard
(3) Offers change all the time- Don't let this put you off. There are always new offers to replace the previous ones. There are also Weekly/Daily offers ( Coral £50 free bet, Paddy power refund if 2nd 3rd 4th, William hill money back if second, Paddy Power 2up etc) which are constantly available.
(4) If you are using the same offer a lot on one site ,make mug bets. For example the Coral £50 free bet offer is availble on literally every premier league match, if you do just that offer 10 times in a week, you will be gubbed unless you have other bets on your account.
(5) It all adds up. Don't think "It's only a £5 free bet, not worth matching". I get around 15 £5 free bets every week, If I ignored them all I would be down £200 at the end of the month.

If you have any questions don't hesisate to ask, Thanks for reading.

EDIT: I Have received quite a few pms asking how match betting works, so if you are wondering the same Here is a guide I made last month explaining exactly how to do it. Hope this helps

InnocentPossum's Season-Long Bets

INNOCENT POSSUM'S PICKS:

Hey,
The COVID break means this season is actually starting quite soon after the last one finished. As a Leeds fan I am soooo hyped to get this season underway! Below I will share some season-long bets I have, alongside the reasoning why. I will also have a list of other bets I have backed, but the reasoning for these is mostly because I am an excited Leeds fan. Therefore, back the second list at your peril (And the first one in fairness, I can't guarantee anything beyond I put a bit of thought into them.)

MY PICKS (ALL PLACED ON SKYBET):

  1. Leeds and Sheffield United Top Half @12.00 (£40 for £480) 1.1. Leeds and Sheffield United Top Half @10.00 (£52 for £520) (£92 for £1,000)
  2. Leeds +40 Handicap Table @17.00 (£35 for £595) 2.2 Liverpool +5 @17.00 (£25 for £425)
  3. Bielsa to win a Manager of the Month Award @9.00 (£11 for £99 [Now @7.00])
  4. Sheffield Top Half (@3.50), Millwall Top 6 (@3.25), Blackpool Top 6 (@3.00) and Colchester Top 7 (@2.75) £50 total split £10 4-fold and 4x £10 Trebles for £260 Minimum for 3, £2,150 for all 4.
  5. Aubameyang Top Scorer (@6.50), Ivan Toney (@10.00), Matty Taylor (@12.00), Ian Henderson (@9.00) Backed £2 E/W Yankee (Doubles, Trebles and 4-Fold). 3 Out of Placing in the Top 4 returns Stake. All 4 placing is £300. 1 Win and 2 Place is a bit of profit. All 4 winning is 21k.
.

MY REASONING:

  1. This one I ended up double backing. Maybe there is a Leeds bias creeping in, but I feel like at a price of @12.00 and even @10.00 this is a smart bet. Sheff United have proven what they can do, and while they lost Henderson who was instrumental, Ramsdale is a tidy replacement. Leeds are a total wild card; I genuinely think we could come 20th or crack Top 6. I think we will start strong as no-one knows how to deal with Bielsa's play but then will suss it out on the return fixtures. I think this could very easily leave us in the Top half. Assuming Arsenal and Tottenham aren't garbage, the 'Big Six' take the top spots leaving 4 places for who? Everton, Leicester, Wolves, Sheff United; Maybe Leeds, Burnley, Southampton and Palace if they have strong seasons too. Therefore I think these two teams fighting for 2 of the 4 spots left at these odds is great, especially not including Spurs and Arsneal choking...
  2. The way the handicap table works is Sky give each team a + points value (for Leeds its +40) and whoever comes top of the league with all of these values applied wins the league. Therefore it's not a case of Leeds coming 39 or less points behind Liverpool when they win, as Liverpool also get a +5. This means a team like Newcastle could win the Handicap League by coming 8th, as their 52 +48 might be enough to be greater than Liverpool's 84+5, City's 88+0 and Arsenal's 62+25. Ultimately what this table is trying to bet on (all @17.00 until the odds shift as more are backed) is which team will overperform the most. Again, could be a Leeds bias but @17.00 for +40 seems good to me as we are such a mystery, an unknown. Fulham and West Brom are +53 and +52 respectively, but we all know what they are about; it wasn't long before they were in the Prem last. (As a Side note, I will back Liverpool +5 @17.00 as that means if they get like 95 points, even losing the league to City, teams like Man U and Chelsea will need 85 in the same season and I can't see that happening). However, I think the Top 4 will be tighter this year with Man U and Chelsea putting up a challenge, meaning the overall total of points won't be so high as they will take points off one another. This could leave Leeds to take the Handicap victory when given 40+ points (May be consider backing E/W if you follow)
  3. Again possible Leeds bias coming into play but it's no secret Bielsa is a highly renowned manager. Pep and Pochettino both learned what they know from him. Coming up to the Premiership with a newly promoted team gives him so much potential to have a month where he wins 4/4. If he pulls that off, he is likely to get it as no-one anticipates a newly promoted side to have a month that strong. In April we play two derbies against Sheff U and Man U, then also have Liverpool and City. If we have 3 draws and a win in that period, managing to draw against the titanic teams, he could win. With odds of @9.00 (even @7.00) I think this has a tonne of potential.
4.
Sheffield United: Have proven they can get Top Half. While it was likely a bit of an anomaly and they fell flat towards the end, I don't see why they can't do it again. They have a similar strength team and the same manager and strong tactics to grind out results all season long.
Millwall: Millwall have been knocking at the door and I think this year is they finally crack top 6. They are good defensively and have a good spine. They also have a couple of game winning talents in amongst the squad too.
Blackpool: Disappointing 13th last year but it seems like Blackpool have made a real effort to make some key signings and bolster their weaker spots. Out of all of the League One teams, Blackpool's odds looked the best value as a lot of the other teams I fancied were all below Evens.
Colchester: Coming 6th last year I reckon they can get top 7 again this year. My concern is they lack attacking threat but their defence seems to be rock solid. Usually defence is what is needed to do well over the whole season, while attack makes the difference between play-offs and auto.
5.
Aubameyang: Scored 13 in 10 when he first joined in the back end of the 17/18 season. Won the Golden boot joint with Salah and Mane in 18/19. Last season scored 22 and missed out on Top scorer to Vardy with 23. This guy is consistent and unlike Mane/Salah, is likely to be free from competition of a similar calibre to himself within his own team.
Toney: Brentford's new striker. Last season Brentford had Watkins (2nd with 25), Benrama (17) and Mbeuno (15) in the top 15 scorers. The season before that they had Maupay joint 2nd. Now they have brought in Toney to a team who is tipped to be in the top 3 teams most likely to get promoted; this means goals. Toney himself was Peterborough's and League One's top scorer last season with 25 so he knows how to put the ball away.
Taylor: Top scorer for Oxford last season, the team that scored the 3rd most goals. This year Toney has moved to Brentford, Guandillet is in Turkey, Henderson has gone down to Salford, Eisa and Clarke-Harris will both compete for Peterborough's goals and Godden and Ladapo got promoted. I reckon we will see a lot of goals from oxford with Taylor being the main supplier.
Henderson: Mentioned above, now at Salford, the favourites to win League Two this year after one season to feel out the league. Rochdale only scored 39 goals last season but so goals were few and far between but when the chances came it was mostly Henderson who put them away. Now playing for the best team in the 'easier' league we should see him picking up a serious haul.

MY EXTRA BETS:

  1. Leeds to win the Prem (lol) @201
  2. Leeds to get Top 4 @26
  3. Leeds to beat Chelsea Home and Away (Stop Crying Frank Lampard) @26
  4. Leeds to beat Liverpool Home and Away (Giant Killers) @51
  5. Leeds to beat Man City Home and Away (The Master schools the Student) @101
  6. Leeds to finish above Man U (Not happening with the biased pen-giving refs) @17
  7. Bamford 15+ Goals @8
  8. Rodrigo 15+ Goals @21 (Boosted from @14, seemed insane value even if he is more likely to be a creator than a finisher)
  9. A whole bunch of long-shot Request-A-Bets that I recommend you browse and see what you like

2019 Summer Silly Season

What an insane season we’ve just had. There have been incredibly high highs, as well as horribly low lows, but we’ve made it through a fifth season in the premier league! With a sixth on the way, it is now time for months of mind numbing transfer speculation, and that’s what I’m here to provide to you!
As always, please let me know if you want me to include anything new, or if I miss anything.

Next Manager

Looking at the odds on skybet and pretty uninspiring or unrealistic candidates so decided to put together my own list of choices to appoint.

Gerardo Seoane (Young Boys)
Broke the dominance of a strong Basel side that had won 8 in a row and has now 2 league titles in a row. Strong performances in Europe qualifying for the champions league with notable results including a win at home to Juventus and draw to Valencia. Will have experience coming into Celtic with a team of similar standing with financial constraints in Europe but challenging for titles in the league.

Jindřich Trpišovský (Slavia Prague)
Currently leading the Czech league and notably a quarterfinal appearance in the Europa League including dramatically knocking out Sevilla and impressing against Chelsea previously knocking out clubs of similar size such as Genk.

Nenad Bjelica (Dinamo Zagreb)
Dominated the Croatian league winning the title by 20 points and a round of 16 exit in the Europa League this season with 4 wins out of 6 in a group containing Fenerbache and Anderlecht, eventually knocked out by Benfica despite defeating them in the first leg 1-0.

Steffen Baumgart (FC Paderborn)
Consecutive promotions in Germany taking Paderborn from Bundesliga 3 to the top flight. Strong performances in the cup with 2 Quarterfinal appearances in 2 years. Potentially a lack of experience in Europe or having never coached a big club with pressure could be a negative.

Considering the clubs are of lower standing I would hope they would find Celtic an attractive option as a bigger club with a bigger budget. Can't tell you much about their style of play but results are good, can't be any worse than what we saw today. I genuinely believe we have good players capable of a nice run in Europe, been a bit unlucky in the past with tough draws though. My choice would be Seoane.

Sky Bet - Super Boost

I want to track whether the "super boost", that sky bet offer actually give a good return on investment. I have been backing these for several months with varying degrees of success and now I want to make a tracker, which will be public for everyone to see if these are calculated enhances to mug off punters or genuine boosts to attract more customers.
I hope to be filling this out for the whole season and hope others can get involved. I will be doing this strictly on their football enhanced bets so please comment if you do see one available that I haven't updated. I will be placing 1 unit on every boost.
I'm going to select the start of the premier league as my start date and end as my end date. Funilly enough the first boost of the season won, so let's see if they can do it again tonight:
The results:
Date Teams Odds Result P/L
11th Aug Chelsea, Bournemouth, Watford 11 (10/1) 3/3 +10u
14th Aug Villa, Leeds, Middlesbrough 6 2/3 -1u
15th Aug Costa & Bale to score 11 1/2 -1u
16th Aug Sunderland v Sheffield Wed BTTS Both halves 19 0/2 -1u
17th Aug *Tottenham, Everton and Leicester 7 3/3 +6u
21st Aug *Derby, Leeds & MK Dons 9 1/3 -1u
25th Aug *Arsenal, Everton & Aston Villa 7.5 1/3 -1u
1st Sep *Chelsea, Everton & Wolves 7.5 2/3 -1u
8th Sep *Sunderland, Portsmouth & Lincoln 7.5 0/3 -1u
12th Sep *England, Spain & Portugal 6.5 2/3 -1u
15th Sep *Chelsea, Arsenal & Crystal Palace 8 3.3 7u
19th Sep *Real Madrid, Juventus & United 5 3/3 4u
22nd Sep *Man Utd, Crystal Palace & Leeds 7.5 1/3 -1u
22nd Sep *Man Utd, Crystal Palace & Leeds 7.5 1/3 -1u
25th Sep *Man Utd, Burnely & Wolves 7 0/3 -1u
25th Sep *Wolves, Everton & Spurs 6 3/3 +5u
2nd Oct *Real Madrid, Leeds & Boro 9 1/3 -1u
6th Oct *Spurs, Burnley & Middlesbrough 6.5 tbd tbd
Update - I have noticed Sky are now including goal scorers as a super boost. Previously they would have called this a double up boost, however as they haven't, I think it is only fair to include in the results. They can be easily removed if necessary
Update 2- Skybet seem to be adding super boosts almost every day currently. If these get too much I will just be doing prem related boosts.
